My name is Michelle Lawlor and I’m a Beastie Boys fan. I live in New Jersey. I’ve seen the Beasties maybe 5 or 6 times in my life and I would consider myself very blessed to be able to say that. I’ve met some truly incredible people because of the Beastie Boys’ music and the joy that those people bring into my life cannot be described in words.
I’m a writer, a graphic artist and photographer, but most of all, I’m a fan of great music made by genuinely good people. Gratitude is definitely in order.
I have yet to come to terms with the loss of MCA myself, and it is my hope that through this project, we can all help each other through it. And we will have a little fun, too. It doesn’t have to be all super-serious all the time. Laughing and smiling is good, and I think that making art or writing your story out can be a way to bring those happy feelings forward when you’re feeling a bit down.
Let’s be clear: I’m not affiliated with nor do I personally know or claim to know any of the Beastie Boys. I’m just a fan that wanted to turn thought into action and document this incredible outpouring of love, unity, knowledge and Beastie-inspired art that has surged forward in the months surrounding MCA’s passing.
In an increasingly digital world I am on a quest to create something tangible out of this. No batteries, flash cards, adaptors, cables or electricity required.
