A NEW MISSION AND A CALL FOR ART!

Keep It On and On is back and has a brand new purpose. We have changed course and have a brand new mission!

I’ve been working with the masterminds behind MCA Day 2012 for several months now.

After a total project redesign, I am REALLY proud to announce that we will be hosting an art show at the Littlefield Art and Performance Space in Brooklyn, NY during the MCA Day 2013 event on May 4, 2013.

  • If you can be in Brooklyn on May 4th and can bring your art with you, submit your entry to have the chance to have your artwork shown in person at the MCA Day event!

We have limited space, and so time is of the essence for submission. We need all artwork submitted by 11:59PM EST April 19, 2013.

Here’s the theme: What have the Bboys inspired YOU to do? Show us visually.
This is wide open, folks. Need ideas? Consider making something that follows the theme of Beastie Boys, Hip-Hop, NYC, Yauch’s life or something you learned from his work – or take it a step further and go next level on us. Make something new or dust off that sick piece you painted years ago and consider submitting it! You can submit up to THREE (3) pieces!

The sickest pieces will find themselves shown at Littlefield as we celebrate Adam’s life on May 4, 2013.

HERE COMES THE ONE-TWO PUNCH – WE ARE GOING GLOBAL

“So what if I don’t live in the US or can’t make it to the show?”
Not to worry, friends. We got you. If you know that you cannot attend or perhaps your piece of artwork is just wayyy too big or cumbersome to bring to the city, no problem. You can still participate DIGITALLY. That’s right. We are going to be showing the submissions on the website via Facebook, in a slideshow that will run all day at Littlefield, and in a free PDF that everyone can download.

Boom. Now we got ourselves a worldwide, multimedia art show. Everyone is able to participate, no matter their location.

See? Toldya we got you.

This art show is intended to connect fans around the globe and share the inspiration and joy that the band has generated over the years. The artwork is exhibited to be shared and enjoyed as part of the celebration.

NOW READ THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND GET BUSY!

Questions about Submitting To the Fanthology Project…

To those of you who are asking questions about submissions and legal repercussions – I hear you and I have some updates:

  • Submissions aren’t open yet – but I encourage you to sign the EMAIL LIST (http://eepurl.com/nMlXn) to be notified when submissions open up.
  • Because of the INCREDIBLE response to this project’s launch and the potential size and scope of it, we are currently seeking legal counsel for the submission agreements to be SURE we do not infringe any copyright. We must be respectful of our fellow artists in the community so this is a necessary step.
  • If you are a lawyer specializing in the arts – particularly copyright – please get in touch. Fans: Referrals are also appreciated.

I want to do this the RIGHT way and that means making sure everyone’s artwork is respected. If you think you may be able to help this this crucial need, please use the contact page and get in touch.

Y’ALL ARE SIMPLY AMAZING.

This project has literally SPRUNG to life.

Please keep spreading the word and if you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Sign the Email List to be notified when submissions will be open!

Special Announcement: August 4, 2012 Beastie Fan Celebration in NYC!

Hey everybody!

My new friend and fellow Beastie fan Jason Palk is organizing a Beastie Boys Fan Celebration to be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 in New York City. It’s a FULL DAY OF B-BOY GOODNESS. It’s a chance for all us fans to get together and CELEBRATE our favorite band and the life of Adam Yauch.

Also – for those who were unable to attend MCA DAY and/or the Beastie Bowl – here’s your chance to let it out and have a little fun with like-minded folks.

We thought August 4th was the perfect date for this event as it’s the eve of Yauch’s birthday.

What Exactly Are We Doing?

Good question. This is a full day event with two parts. Part One is during the day (more on that below) and Part Two starts at 8pm at the Overlook Bar and Grill.

Here We Go!

Welcome B-Boys and B-Girls, to the beginning of Keep It On and On: The Beastie Fanthology Project.

Keep It On and On: The Beastie Fanthology Project seeks to unite Beastie Boys fans around the world with a global collaborative art project. We aspire to document the cultural and artistic effects of the Beastie Boys’ music on the world through a compilation of the art, photography, writing and stories of the fans. The resulting art book will become a fundraiser for the three charities the Beastie Boys supported: The Pablove Foundation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and the Milarepa Fund.
